Achieving Personal Success.

One of the easiest ways to instantly change your life for the better is to achieve personal success.

Achieving success is like baking a cake. You follow a recipe, pop the mixture in the oven, and voila!… a cake.

If you have no recipe, chances are you won’t end up with the same cake. You’ll probably end up with one heck of a mess instead!

It’s the same when it comes to investing…

Follow the “Recipe for Success” and your chances of succeeding are better than good. Go in without a recipe and it’s likely you’ll end up with nothing but a big mess on your hands.

So how do you get started?

Well first you need a Mentor .

What’s a Mentor?

The dictionary defines the word mentor as “a wise and trusted councilor or teacher.” Another common definition is “a coach.”

Very few people achieve great success without personal mentors.

Here are 3 reasons why we need a mentor...

  1. A mentor can give you perspective. Often you are too close to see things objectively. You are caught up in the emotions of the situation - the fear, the excitement, the wonder, the anxiety, the confusion... and it all overwhelms you. A mentor is detached and can see things from a distance. Experience plus time equals wisdom. A mentor can give you the wisdom of a lifetime of experience.

  2. A mentor can give you proficiency. A mentor fills in gaps in your knowledge. In mastering any new task, an experienced mentor can simplify the process, guide you through the complicated parts, help you avoid pitfalls, and warn you about dangers. In short, a mentor helps you avoid the school of hard knocks – the most expensive kind of education in terms of time, money, and emotional pain. A mentor gives you a short cut.

  3. A mentor gives you patience. In learning any new skill, there’s a learning curve. A mentor can teach you patience as you struggle through failure to achieve mastery.

Successful people and mentors

The world’s most successful investor is Warren Buffett, a billionaire many times over. As a senior in college, Buffett read a book by Benjamin Graham called "The Intelligent Investor" (still considered one of the greatest stock-market classics). For Buffett, this was an epiphany.

He enrolled at Columbia University so that he could study under Graham, and received a master’s degree in economics. After graduation, Buffett continued benefiting from the famous author’s mentoring, working under Graham for two years.

At age 25 Buffett went home to Omaha , Nebraska , and launched, with seven investors, Buffett Associates. Buffett’s original stake in this company was only $100.

Within five years, Buffett was a millionaire and on his way to becoming the most famous stock investor in history.

Remember there is no synergy on your own. It takes at least two.

Almost all successful people have mentors. They recognise the need to have a mentor. It is part of your leverage.

Ask yourself, "How can I use this example and apply it for my own reward?"

Can you afford not to have a Mentor ?

Well if you answered “NO”, then this opportunity to receive the “Tails for Success” email newsletter could be the one thing to really help you on your path to success.

Joint Venture Success

One attendee of our 2005 Mentoring program was 55 year old Karm who, prior to the program, had never considered investing in any property apart from her home in Byron Bay. Her husband had passed on and he had been the "money-brains" during their marriage.

Karm was concerned that she would not have enough money for retirement, which is just a few years away. A friend of Karm’s, who had attended my weekend Trading Wisely seminar, suggested she join him in attending the 2005 Mentoring for Success program.

I visited Karm at her home to introduce myself, get to know her, and be certain that joining Mentoring for Success would be the right decision for her. We hit it off well, however, I noticed that she was petrified at the thought of buying another house.

As excited as she was about the Mentoring for Success program, she felt that having no spare money would get in the way of her taking action in relation to what would be taught in the program.

I reassured Karm. It was more important for her to first acquire the knowledge of what to do, and worry about where the money would come from later. I promised her that the universe would find a way to help her, if she at least had a go.

It turned out that the full-day session on Joint Ventures was the most rewarding lesson for Karm. During 2005, she bought not one, but two investment properties by doing joint ventures with her friend.

Karm still owns her house in Byron Bay . She now rents it out. In fact her strategy is so lucrative that she even quit her job which, prior to Mentoring for Success 2005, Karm had felt trapped in.

All this in less than one year, by a 55 year old woman unfamiliar with investing, never having attended a course or read a book on the subject of money in her entire life.

What an inspiration Karm is to the rest of us!
